Description
Shallots are a type of onion wrapped in paper-thin layers of copper skin and divided into clusters of individually wrapped segments.
Flavour
They are savory when raw, and more delicate and sweet flavour when cooked.
Common Uses
They can be substituted in nearly any recipe that calls for onions (three shallots are equivalent to one small onion).
