Why is Local Organic Produce More Expensive?
The cost of locally grown vs imported produce
We are a family-run business and have built a great team of enthusiastic and dedicated workers.
Our common passion for good food has turned into a passion for growing and we are thrilled about how far we've come with the help of our staff.
Our team has over 40 years of combined experience in agriculture and is supported by a network of knowledgeable growers.
In the busier, summer months we have up to 8 staff harvesting garnishes, heavily grading vegetables and packaging for our chefs, food shops and farmers' markets.
In the field we have up to 9 staff prepping beds, planting, harvesting and caring for our vegetables, protecting them from the bugs using certified organic methods.
We are lucky to have the same hard-working seasonal employees back year after year who know their way around Cookstown Greens, who know each other, and on whom we rely to maintain our high standard for quality from harvesting to packaging.
Along with working hard on the farm, we also deliver to Toronto 3 times a week and participate in farmers' markets. Our customers wouldn't get to enjoy the taste of our produce without our drivers and market staff who represent Cookstown Greens every week.
