Services for the public as well as chefs

Cookstown Greens provides services for the public as well as chefs.

Brick Works Farmers' Market:

Every Saturday morning from 8:00 until Noon during the summer growing season we bring many of our vegetables to this popular market.  It is on Mount Pleasant Road just north of the Bloor/Danforth Bridge and west of the Don Valley Parkway.  There is a free shuttle bus from the Broadview Subway Station.

To purchase produce in Toronto:

For retail you can obtain selected items in downtown Toronto from long-time premium greengrocer Harvest Wagon and Summerhill Market where Chef Chris Klugman now holds forth providing high-end takout for Rosedale's elite.  We also sell at thehealthybutcher.com.

To purchase produce at the farm:

You can pre-order and pick up at the farm.  In the summer we will be establishing an road-side honour-stand where you can pick-up smaller quantities.  This will be convenient if you live in our area; or you are your way to the cottage.  (Currently the stand is not open.)

To receive produce by Courier:

We usually use Purolator Courier for less expensive overnight delivery to your home or business.  Please note that for oders under $150 there is a $20 handling charge.  Then delivery is charged at our cost (typically about $20) per box.  (To avoid these charges consider picking them up at the farm.)

"David Cohlmeyer and family at Feast of Fields"

Enjoy Cookstown Greens at a Benefit:

Many chefs choose Cookstown Greens for their contributions to charity events which take place nearly every week of the year.  Feast of Fields feastoffields.org is an annual event in support of Organic Agriculture.  Another wonderful event is Picnic at the Brickworks http://www.evergreen.ca/rethinkspace/?p=198.

Caterers may purchase for your event:

If you would particularly like to have Cookstown Greens produce served at your catered event (wedding, company dinner, birthday party etc.), tell them they can obtain our produce or you can pick it up for them.

How about Purchasing Seeds?:

Our most common seed request is for a Baby Salad Green formula blend which we have a bag with enough seed for a summer of weekly plantings for a family of four, only $15.00.  Mail in a cheque for $16.20 (including tax) and we will send you the seeds with full instructions for planting in a 2' x 8' garden.

Job Postings:

We have a happy long-term core of employees so we don't often hire.  The work is repetitive, it can be hot or cold, and the pay is only mediocre.  But for the right people this is the best job around.  If you are still interested, leave us your name and experience.

Market Garden Consulting:

With strong experience in marketing and growing specialty produce, David Cohlmeyer is in a very unique postion to provide timely advice for market gardeners who require some financial, marketing, variety or cultural guidance.

Conference Speaker:

David Cohlmeyer has spoken with high praise at many conferences throughout Canada and the US over the past twenty years.  He can custom-make Power Point presentations and is qualified to speak on many market garden topics:  Greenhouse Growing, Winter Storage, Marketing to Chefs, Business Planning, Crop Rotations, Effective Market Garden Tools etc. etc.
